Time for a New Hoelscher-Buxkemper Book
At the April board meeting, the Hoelscher Buxkemper Family Association decided that we need to start working on a new book. At the 2016 Reunion in New Braunfels, the association will have a first book meeting to see who will be interested in helping with this task.
Obviously, the more our family grows, and at such a fast pace, the harder it becomes to keep the book information updated. To keep the book manageable, a few things will change. The next book will have a summary of Generation one (Anton and Mary Catherine Hoelscher) through Generation four. Then the fifth generation will start with their stories and descendants. This book will not contain the biographies on the first through fourth generations. If you want the stories and photos from generations one through four, order the 2003 book.
The board committee will be meeting to discuss timelines, expected deadlines and responsibilities. If you would like to help with the book; collect information, proof read, type and scan pictures, please plan to attend this meeting. If you cannot make the meeting in New Braunfels, you may contact Linda Binns.
There are two things we will need from the families: updated family sheets and biographies of the fifth generation. We have two ways in which you may submit your competed information form. You may simply fill in the form included on the facing page) and mail it to the appropriate family branch representative, or submit your data on the form on the website and email the form to your family branch representative.
Firth Generation biography
The family board is requesting someone in the family to provide a biography of their fifth generation ancestors to be included in the book. The biography is to be in paragraph format and no more than 600 words. You can email or U.S. mail the bio to your family representatives. The addresses and contact information is on page six.
Include birth date and place, parents’ names, death date and place, marriages with spouse name and place of wedding, children, and places worked, hobbies, clubs, Godparents, and schools attended. Also include if they served in the military; the branch, rank, and places served.
For religious family members, we are asking for the date and location of ordination, date and location of elevation to monsignor, date and location of Consecration to Bishop. For nuns, we are asking for the date and location of final vows. Please include other information you consider pertinent.
