The 10th Family Reunion
The 10th Family Reunion was held on Saturday June 17-18, 1972 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Temple. The hall was open at 2 p.m. for early arrivals with registration beginning at 6 p.m. A dance was held that evening fr members. Father Elmer Holtman said mass at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the parish hall of St. Mary’s Father Elmer was celebrant and also gave the sermon. After mass, coffee was served at the K.C. Hall. The noon meal, meeting, singing and visiting followed for the remainder of the day.
Meeting
The 10th meeting of the Hoelscher-Buxkemper reunion was called to order at 2:10 p.m., June 18th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Temple, Texas. Chairman Ray Hoelscher led the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. E.B. Heese of Temple gave the welcome address.
The chairman gave his thanks to the numerous committees and stated that it was with their help that the reunion was a success.
The chairman paid an honorary tribute to past chairman of the reunion. They are as follows:

Grand Knight Eugene Engbrock welcomed members of the reunion to Temple and the Knights of Columbus Hall.
There was a roll call of board members, 20 of 32 members were present. These are the people from various parts of the state responsible for taking care of the business meeting in the year between reunions. Family members should see board members in their part of the country when they desire information or wish to have something brought up at these meetings.
Minutes of the last meeting were then read by Secretary Bill Vanicek. There was a balance of $423.16 in the treasury. A list of reunion expenses was given but not a dollar break down. Herbert Hoelscher moved that the minutes be accepted as read seconded by Mrs. Frank Moeller.
There were ten family members present who had attended all ten family reunions. Awards were then given in the following categories.
Oldest Man Frank Untermeyer, 85 of San Antonio
Oldest Lady Mrs. E. W. Hoelscher, 81 of Westphalia
Youngest Child Sammy Hoelscher, 3 months old son of Gussie and Marilyn Hoelscher of Robstown.
Farthest Distance Mr & Mrs Walter Hoelscher of Sacramento, CA 2200 mile
Largest Family Fred Hoelscher, Westphalia 11 children present
An engraved silver tray was then given to Miss Shirley Hoelscher for her years of service as reunion secretary since 1960. She spoke briefly stating that she enjoyed working with the reunion and thanked for the gift.
Gene Hoelscher, registration chairman gave the following attendance report. Total number present was 669. Breakdown of attendance was as follows: Joe 259, Elizabeth 183, Anton 113, William 78, and Ben 36.
The site of the net reunion was then discussed. There were no volunteers and board members were to have a short meeting at 4 p.m. to further discuss the reunion site.
Collection for expenses was conducted by Al Klaus. Door prizes were then drawn for and the meeting was adjourned.
