2010 – New Braunfels
The 29th biennial meeting of the Hoelscher – Buxkemper Family was held at the New Braunfels Civic Center on Sunday June 27, 2010, with the meeting called to order at 1:25 P,.M. By Vice -President / Reunion Chair Carla Bottorf. The opening prayer was led by Father Paul Gros, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Secretary – Treasurer Shirley Burk announced copies of the reunion meeting held on June, 29, 2008 in San Angelo had been distributed to family members prior to the meeting. A motion to approve minutes was made, seconded and approved.
Shirley Burk also reported that while it was not possible to give a complete financial report of the reunion, based on attendance it appeared this would be a success financially. She also reported that the board had approved cleaning and repairs of various tombstones of the 2nd and 3rd generation family members in the Frelsburg and surrounding areas for a total amount of $1400.00 and this has now been accomplished. She suggested family members visit the various cemeteries to see these improvements.

Nadine McDonald of Lubbock and Lee and Judy Meurer of Slaton had left for home prior to this meeting. Absent board members; Leonard Buxkemper of Schulenburg; Clarence Entrop of Temple; Cecilia Hoelscher of Corpus; Wanda Hoelscher of Raymondville; and Paula Rodgers of Burnet.
Clergy and religious were recognized and thanked for presiding at this morning’s Mass: Fr. Paul Gros of Baton Rouge, La and Deacon Wilbur Hoelscher of San Antonio. It was announced that family member, Bishop Emiterus Leroy Matthiesen, who has presided at many of our past family reunion masses, had died in 2009.
Past reunion chairpersons in attendance were recognized, including Rosamond Bedrich, Dottie Frerich, Theresa Gold, Alice Hoelscher, and Doris Voltin.
Nataline Hoelscher of Robstown was recognized as the only person who has attended all 29 reunions. First time attendees at our family reunion were recognized and invited to return for future reunions.
Hubert Lange, Registration Chair, reported at total attendance over the two day period as 723, with 114 Elizabeth, 118 for Anton, 364 for Joe, 63 for William and 84 for Ben.
The 80+ in attendance totaled 42. Saturday dinner was served to 460 and Sunday was served to 514.

Raffle items had been awarded prior to the meeting. Carla recognized various chairpersons for this reunion and thanked them and all who had worked long and hard to make this reunion a success.
Announcements: Linda Binns (and husband Quint, who had come from San Angelo in advance to help with this reunion) announced that the family website, www.h-bfamily.org continues to provide information about family activities and includes a book order form for purchasing family books. Books will be sold for a short time after this meeting or can be ordered and then will be mailed. Jim Bernsen reported HB family is now on Facebook and information can be undated viewed there also.
Dianne Buxkemper of San Antonio invited the family to Columbus for the 2012 reunion. She indicated Columbus has much to offer and is near communities where some of our first ancestors settled. They hope to have the reunion in late June.
A motion to adjourn was made by Linda Binns, approved, and the meeting adjourned at 2:20 P.M.
